Doctor of Medicine and Biological Sciences, Dialo Diop is a retired teacher-researcher in microbiology from the Faculty of Medicine of UCAD in Dakar.

Moreover, he is a founding member of the National Democratic Rally (RND), the last political party created by Cheikh Anta Diop in 1976, which he led until his untimely death in 1986. He was elected to head the party at the end of the 3rd Congress in 2008 before retiring at the end of his two statutory terms in 2016. Since then, he is the honorary SG of the RND.

Finally, he is currently pursuing research on the history of African medicine.
