Abdoulaye Gouro is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, accredited by the French National Veterinary Schools in animal nutrition and currently Professor at the Faculty of Agronomy of Niamey.
He has an experience of about forty years in Higher Education and Agricultural Research and Development. After two years of experience in the public veterinary services of Niger, he embarked on an academic career and has had to exercise several responsibilities.
The most important are those of Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy which he left to become Director General of the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Niger. These two functions enabled him to manage important projects for capacity building in agricultural research and training with equally important funding from the State and bilateral and multilateral cooperation. He was thus able to become familiar with the development of national strategic plans for agricultural research and education as well as the search for international funding for their implementation.
In terms of collaborations, Professor Gouro has been able to forge fruitful partnerships with national sister structures in the South of the North and in India, but also with regional and international structures such as the centers of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
Following those experiences, he has ensured for about ten years, the functions of DG of the International Center for Research and Development for Livestock in Subhumid Zone (CIRDES).
His scientific production includes contributions to books and articles in the field of animal husbandry. He has directed and still directs several Masters and PhD theses.
He currently coordinates the Master in Biotechnologies Applied to Animal Production of the Faculty of Animal Production.
Mr. GOURO has been a member of several governance bodies of Agricultural Research and has received several distinctions: awards, testimonials of satisfaction or national and international recognition.
